I am a Texas native with a professional background in the career fields of architectural drafting and design focusing on sustainable living and mental health environmental design, and in social work as a case manager and therapist assisting children and families, veterans, domestic violence survivors, and cultivating maternal mental health and well-being.
I obtained my BSW from The University of Kansas and MSW from the University of Texas at Arlington and am licensed for independent clinical practice and as a clinical supervisor in the state of Texas. I am currently a professor at the university of Texas at Arlington and am very passionate about research focused on the brain-body-environments’ connection to mental health and the origin of dis-ease. This includes interests in somatic therapies, early-childhood complex PTSD, epigenetics, the gut micro-biome mental health connection, nutritional psychopathology, and environmental therapies. In addition to teaching, I am an artist, musician, and above all else a mother to 5 amazing children ranging in age from toddlers to teens and four cats!
I would be honored to walk beside you on your journey towards LCSW licensure as you cultivate personal wellbeing, develop clinical skills, and build confidence in your role as a social worker ready to advance to the next level of clinical practice.
Let's take this journey together!
